Bariatric Evaluations
Tyler McDaniel, Ph. D
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Psychological Health Roanoke and Dr. Tyler McDaniel offers Psychological Evaluations as one aspect of fulfilling the requirements needed prior to bariatric surgery. A bariatric evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that helps determine if a person is ready for weight loss surgery.
The evaluation focuses on your behavior, psychological symptoms, and your understanding of what the surgery can and cannot accomplish.
The evaluation will help address self-perception and body image issues. There will be major lifestyle changes and challenges along the way. As such, the most important thing to do during this assessment is to be honest to help us accurately assess your readiness for this life-changing procedure. The evaluation will include an extensive clinical interview, as well as a thorough battery of psychological tests. On average, we can return the evaluation report around in 2 weeks.
With Dr. McDaniel’s extensive training in health psychology while in graduate school (University of South Carolina) and through his clinical internship (United States Air Force), his approach is person-centered and comprehensive. He would be happy to assist you in your weight loss journey by providing this important evaluation to ensure you are prepared and give you the best chance to identify any potential issues that could reduce your chances of long-term weight loss success.
